For this week's blog I will be listening to a podcast called We Live Here By the St. Louis Public Radio. Today’s episode is called the State of education. The two hosts go into detail about the state of public education in America. They talk about the effects that Covid had on public education and overall talk about the positives and negatives of public education in the early 2020s. The two hosts talk about ongoing issues affecting public schools, including school closures, decline in school safety, lack of access to technology, and student mental health issues as the leading problems facing public schools today. The podcast goes into detail about the dangers of tenured teachers in America. They also go into detail of violence in public schools in America, in inner cities and how it is extremely difficult to stop/slow down this violence inside of schools. They talk about the severe dangers of mental health affecting children in public schools and not having enough faculty to help each individual with their mental health. They talk about the food crisis and the obstacle faced with having to feed many kids that don’t get fed at home. They also talk about The lack of learning and trouble with grades due to school closures and an online school due to Covid. The moral of the story is this podcast is very informative and gets straight to the point about the problems and negatives of our education system in America.
